Stone Button

Making a realistic-looking stone button is easy with Photoshop filters and layer effects. Here is one way.
Step 1
Create a new document like this:

Fill the background with this color:
Step 3
Create a new layer. Swap the fore/background color by clicking on the curved arrow:
Now set the new foreground color to #B5B8C0, then go to Filter-->Render-->Clouds:

Step 4
Go to Layer-->Layer Style and use the following settings:

Select the eraser tool and set it to 19 hard round brush, then go around the edges to make the shape irregular:

Now change the eraser brush to this:

Set the opacity to about 30% and click on random spots around the edges of the stone. You could also click on one or two spots on the main part of the stone too, giving this result:

And that's it! You can change colors, use different eraser brushes, and apply filters for variety.
