Look for a colourful source photo.

Use a mosaic source photo

step 3

Paste the mosaic

step 4

Use blending mode
"luminosity"

step 5

Copy the layer, paste and flip horizontal for the layer to the right, and vertical for the layer below. Use a soft brush on low opacity to blend the different layers.
