I agree with john in that the eraser tool should not have been used.

A better way, that would still be easy enough for beginners, would be to use a simple layer mask. The advantage of this method, for beginners especially, is that they can quickly undo any action.

I’m a very good Photoshop user, and for that reason I don’t agree with Lou and John. When you are a newbie in photoshop you don’t know anything about masks and pen tool, specially pen tool and the easiest way to change a head is with the eraser tool. Of course, when you’re getting better you’re going to learn new and better techniques to do the same. The tutorial is very good for beginners!!!
