Create a Rusted Metal Sign in Photoshop

Step 1:
Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 600×300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Then on the tools palette set the foreground color to #D2CFC6 color shade. Also just to be organized create a new layer set (Layer > New > Layer Set), name it ‘Metal Sign’.

Step 2:
Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool from your tools palette then above your screen under the options palette choose Fill Pixels, set the radius to 20 px and check anti-aliased. Create a new layer and draw a #D2CFC6 color shade rounded rectangle, exact size 419×103 px.

Step 3:
Now download this Rusted Metal Stock Photo and define it as a pattern. Do this by opening the stock photo in photoshop then go to Edit > Define Pattern.

Step 4:
Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Inner Glow, Satin, Gradient Overlay and Pattern Overlay blending options to your rounded rectangle.

Step 5:
Your rounded rectangle should now have textures attached.

Step 6:
Now make another layer and draw a black rectangle covering your gradient rectangle.

   Sign is good but the text could use some work. I almost want to say it could look better without the pattern fill - maybe just make it transparent and have the black outlines on the text show?
