This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create a colorful layout to showcase your portfolio. You can see the result of the tutorial in the image below. Click image to enlarge |

| First of all create a new Photoshop document with the dimensions 740x500, and then fill the background with dark grey. Create a rounded rectangle, as shown in image a), with a radius of 10 pixels. Make a new layer on top of the rounded rectangle and then, using the rectangular marquee tool, create a slightly lighter grey rectangle. This is where the header graphic will go. |

Next, create 2 thinner rectangles at the top and bottom of the dark grey rectangle. Leave a pixel wide border above the top thin strip and one below the bottom thin strip. Create a new layer set and name it circles. We're going to put all the header circles inside this layer set. Make a new layer and then create a white cirlce on it, using the elliptical marquee tool (image b). |

| Contract the selecion, of the white circle, by 2 pixels and the fill it with red. Create 2 more shapes, 1 pale blue and 1 pale yellow. Next, go to Colorful Layout Tutorial Part 2 |
