In this Photoshop tutorial you will see how to make a shiny, stylish web button with great glossy effects.

1.
In a empty layer make an elliptical selection about center of the image.

With the gradient tool make a gradient as in the image below, then drag from the center of the selection and out.

Make a new layer, rename if reflection then with still holding the selection from before grab the elliptical selection tool with the subtract from selection mode turned on. drag as in the image below.

Go to select -> modify -> contract and contract it by about 12 px, then go to select -> modify -> smooth and give it about 20. Fill the selection with the color white, now your image should look like the image below.

With the reflection mode selected go to filters -> blur -> gaussian blur and give it about 4, then set the layers opacity down to about 60.

Double click the layer containing the elliptical button, to get to its layers style panel and set the following as in the images below.

7.
The last image shows pattern overlay, you can change the pattern to what ever you like, I just found one I thought looked cool.

And your are done, you can put in whatever object or text you want, just make a layer in between the elliptical layer and the reflection layer.
