Step 1

Start with a new file and choose white as background.
Press Ctrl + Shift + N to create a new layer.

Step 2

Now take the Elliptical Marquee Tool and draw out a Circle.

TIP:  When using the elliptical marquee tool holding down the Shift key on your keyboard (when you actually draw the elliptical marquee) will make it so you can only draw a perfect circle.



Step 3

Click on the Gradient tool.



Select Radial gradient tool with the settings that are shown on picture below.



Step 4

Now we must draw the gradient.
Point with the mouse to where you want the blending to begin (Point 1), then drag the mouse to where you want the blending to end (Point 2).



Step 5

Press Ctrl + M (Curves) and apply the settings that are shown on picture below.



Step 6

Goto Image - Adjustments - Variations and paint your Sphere.
