Text on Metallic Panel
Summary:
A great way to convey any textual message is by cutting it out of a texture panel. In this Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to design a text on a metallic surface.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. 500x500 height/width.
2. Create a new layer. Name this layer "Back Plate".
3. Select the Rectangular Marquee tool. Holding down the SHIFT key, create a perfectly square selection on your canvas.
4. Select the Paint Bucket, fill in the selection with light grey.
5. Click Ctrl+D to deselect.

6. Goto Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Set Amount to 18. Check Uniform and Monochromatic.

7. Goto Filter > Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes. Set Direction to 15, Stroke Length to 33, and Sharpness to 6.

8. Select the Rectangular Marquee tool. Holding the SHIFT key, create a selection that does not include the corners that were not stroked.

9. Goto Select > Inverse.
10. Click the Delete key to remove outside part of metal square.

11. Right click the "Back Plate" layer. Choose "Blending Options".
12. Apply "Bevel and Emboss" properties as follows:

13. Apply "Gradient Overlay" properties as follows:

14. You should now have your metallic back plate.

15. Select the Type Tool. Choose white as foreground color and type anything over the panel on a new Type layer.
16. Select the Magic Wand tool. Click the want onto the text.

17. Click the "Eye" icon next to the Type layer in the Layers Palette to hide the text.
18. Click the "Back Plate" layer so it is active. Then click the Delete key.
19. Click Ctrl+D to deselect.
