Hi Keen, I think your image just needs a bit more contrast. You might try and use the burn tool to enhance your darjer areas
set it at a low exposure to gat better control, and set to shadows, the same for the dodge tool for highlites. When you've done this try coping everything merged, make a new file and try the layer>Adjustments>Bightness/Contrast, you may find you like the results.
