it's a bit pixelated around the edges ... 300 dpi is good, as said by Alistair... good drawing though!

Selections etc. are pixel specific. For example - a curved selection made at 72px per inch will have 72 squared steps per inch, hence the stepped effect on the butt of the shotgun. 300ppi will have 300 squared stepes per inch which makes it look a lot smoother - even on a 72dpi monitor.

I thought monitors only displayed in 72px per inch, so I don't really understand how upping the resolution to 300 will make it look better on a computer monitor. Not trying to argue just wondering, do I have a misconception?

Looks ok but you need to work with higher resolutions, 300 is good for most things.
