Impressive man! This looks 'photo-realistic' and I really like it. If the skin had 'skin' texture it would look even closer to 'real'...nice job with the shading and details Alistair...I like the iris...kinda makes me think of "Final Fantasy" and the "spirit within" that kind of thing,...INSIDE the eye looks like a whole galaxy...very nice!
as for voting goes...I think that under each user's profile, it should have "Average Rank Given" which would show who is giving people all 1's. Then the moderator should disallow voting from that person. respek
I have to admit - this is really good. I see what you mean by "tone down the whites" a bit. It's hard for one (namely myself) to judge his work. But yours is very good.
The only thing I could offer is a small (very minor) observation. It looks like part of your iris extends into the pupil. Though this looks good, this doesn't occur often in nature unless a person has a hippus pupil (First sign of Multiple Sclerosis). I find the pupil is always perfectly rounded.
Any idea who the numbskull is that is giving everyone "1"s? They should be voted off the island.
I wanted to get that loose painted look, thats why I didn't clean up the lines too much. The whole thing was painted on 1 layer using soft rounds and chalks. Oh, and my trusty wacom.
very good, the proportions are quite right and the tones look great. Maybe just try and use a little bit more underlining touches to sharpen the image a bit (for e.g. the iris) If you get that youll get 10points no doubt, but for now 9 is the score
