Hi Alistair, this is quite good, I do matte's professionally although have never posted here, one suggestion I would make is to apply foreground shadows with a sharper edge to define the shapes, other wise the live action will not really layer well, remember they will be shot on a blue screen and they will be quite sharp!
Just a suggestion for you to think about.
