What you describe is Matte Painting. People like Dusso, Dylan Cole & Chris Stoski make a good living at it working for major film production companies. A lot of what you see on the cinema screens is there thanks to the art of the matte painter. They are very skillful guys because they have to paint things into a photographed scene and make it look like its really there. Look at some of the work done by the matte painters on films like Lord of the Rings and you will see what I mean.

........sorry, the first line should read ".....the actual application of painting techniques". Think it`s old-age setting in already.........

macdon: What I like about your work is that it`s all done by actually the application of painting techniques, or the tools within Photoshop. Your work is to be commended mate; it`s simply fantastic !
I`ve just seen, on another site, some other (what I believed to be) really excellent work, but it turns out that the guy is partially using photographs imported into PS, which he then paints on. Yes, it looks good, no doubt about it, but it just isn`t the same as the stuff that you and Alistair are doing.
Am I right in thinking that what he does is called "rendering" ? If so, I can now see why there`s such bad feeling about it on here, as anyone with some technical know-how could do the same.
I must admit, when I looked at his stuff, I couldn`t understand how he could achieve such realism...........but now I know........LOL !
Anyway, sorry to waffle on, and keep them coming mate........brilliant !
